After the fall of Iron Keep, the Rebel Army was able to push forward and with the help of many of the regional counts surrounded the Imperial Capital of the Golden City. During this time, the five head generals of the army took the title of “Rose General.” Kyrok the “Grey Rose”, The Count of Doveport and former Imperial admiral Warren Blackmoore; the “White Rose,” The Count of Ashenvale and “Green Rose” Gregor Locke, The Countess of Whitebridge Taya “The Red Rose”, and finally the “Blue Rose” James Euls Gray, the Duke of Dramongarde. The siege of the Golden City lasted for only days. Due to the work of a rebel agent and former advisor to Emperor Azar, Gabriel Stahl, the gates were opened to the city and the rebels flooded in. Stahl was then able to delay the movement of the Emperor, while his right hand man, Damien Fay escaped. Though Stahl was severely wounded during the fight, the delay was enough for Kyrok, Blackmoore, and Taya to reach Azar’s castle and kill him.
With the city under Rebel control, the remaining Imperial forces made a desperate push to escape the city through the west. A frantic skirmish ensued, which resulted in the death of the Duke Gray. Though the rebels ended the war and were victorious, a number of prominent Imperial figures escaped, such as Damien Fay and Landon Gray, another of Azar’s top councilmen and cousin to Duke Gray.
Soon then the issue of succession came about. As claimants to the throne sprang up, some more legitimate than others, another crisis seemed imminent. While the Empire looked for its new leader, so too did the Duchy of Dramongarde. James Gray had died in the final battle and his younger sister and next in line had gone missing shortly after. This left the next Gray to be Landon, Emperor Azar’s former advisor. This was met with generally negative responses. Landon soon appeared in Dramongarde and announced himself as Duke. Soon after, the counts who formerly served James Gray denied Landon’s claims, and were ready to fight him off. The three counts, Drestin Maug of Huren, Lorin Starsworn of Sarton, and Stephan Chardy of Kirkwall, though were unable to cooperate together. Their strong personalities were previously held in check by the former Duke.
Now the Kingdom is unified, but the Duchy is in chaos. It’s only a matter of time until the rising tensions once again lead to conflict, and a new Age of War begins.
