SOCIETY
Society in Baden follows a certain hierarchy. The common folk of villages answer to a local magistrate or mayor. A grouping of villages are under the governance of a count or countess of a city. The counts answer to their respective duke or duchess. The dukes then answer to the King. Of the five duchies, four of them are governed directly by the dukes while the duchy of Gilmadoore is under the control of the King.
Though cities in Baden have high populations, the majority of its citizens live in villages or spread across the lands as farmers. There is a fair amount of poverty throughout the kingdom, as recovery from Azar's reign and Kyrok's Rebellion coincide with Zandar's Orc Uprising. Currently there is no crowned King of Baden.

RACES
HUMANS - The most populous race in all of Baden and Trastia itself. Humans are the ruling race in Baden. Known for being diverse in every way, human's vary in size, intellect, and lifestyles. Humans lifespans typically reach up to 80 years old.
ELVES - The Symbaern Elves are a scattered few among Baden as many of them were killed during MacLeod’s War hundreds of years ago. The remaining Elves are a proud race, tall and handsome. They generally seclude themselves as they try to maintain their heritages and customs in a kingdom heavily dominated by other races. Originally concentrated in the eastern forests of Baden, they are now spread throughout the lands. Elves have the longest lifespan of all the races, regularly living over 500 years old, some even living as old as 1000.
DWARVES - The Dwarves of Baden mostly hail from the mountains of Dungannon or Creston. In recent years, they have begun to move east to build in the Arth Mountins. Despite being shorter than other races, they still possess a great deal of strength to go along with their wit. While most Dwarves live in the mountains, there are still many who live among the Empire as merchants, guides or mercenaries. Dwarves value honor, gold, and ancestry above all else. Being known as some of the best craftsmen in the land, many large trading companies are run by a dwarf (ex. Ironbeard Trading Co.) Dwarves can live to be over 300 years old, though rarely going over 400.
ORCS - The youngest of all the races, Orcs were created by the god Mazandues during the God Wars to aid him in battle. Created to be large, strong and follow orders, Orcs are generally not the brightest creatures and prone to violence. Though generally short tempered, most Orcs admire physical strength and are honorable in combat. Orcs tend to live in more tribal communities than settling in the cities of man. Each tribe is lead by a Clan Leader or Chief. And the clan leaders answer to the War Chief, the authority figure of all Orcs. After multiple wars and uprising lead by Orcs, the general population of Baden holds disdain towards them. Orcs that do live in cities are usually slaves or servants to Human nobles or merchants. Orcs have an average lifespan of 60 years old and are large in stature than most other races.
HALF-ORCS - A Half-Orc is a spawn of an Orc and another race. Though not as strong as full blooded Orcs, Half-Orcs are generally smarter than their full blooded counterpart. They are more welcomed into Orcish tribal villages than into Baden’s society. Half-Orcs are also prone to be slaves or servants to Human nobles. They are larger than most races in stature but not as large as full Orcs. They also tend to live longer lives than full blood Orcs, with an average lifespan of 70 years old.
HALF-ELVES - The offspring of an Elf and another race, half-elves take on a few features from their elvish lineage. They too are generally a more handsome race and share a full-blooded elf's intellect and fair hair. Despite the similarities, Half-Elves are treated with contempt from the proud full-blood elvish race. They tend to live in human society where they are more accepted due to this. Half-elves also have a longer lifespan like their elvish counterparts, but not as long, generally living to be around 400 years old.
MINOR RACES (Non-playable)
GNOMES - Originating from the cold wastes of North Hold, Gnomes are a very intuitive race. Credited with many modern inventions, such as guns, gnomes like to tinker about with whatever they can. Small in stature and weak in strength, most gnomes possess a great intellect. Gnomes live on average to 70 years old.
LIZARDFOLK - The Lizardfolk of Baden generally live in the Wetlands of South-western Dramongarde. They live in nomadic tribes, settling where the ever changing waters have not moved to. Some Lizardfolk have moved into Baden’s society becoming guides or merchants in the Wetlands. Lizardfolk tend to live up to 60 year of age.
RELIGION
The Kingdom of Baden has multiple gods and goddesses that are worshiped across its lands. Followers of the various deities live mostly in harmony with few exceptions. Temples and shrines can be found in major cities for most gods. In Baden, the primary deity is Dramon, God of War and Honor. Also the worship of Sen, Goddess of Undeath is outlawed. THE DREAMSCAPE
There is a place believed to exist called the "Dreamscape." This place is where your spirit goes while you sleep. Believed to be another plane of existence by some, you can supposedly find yourself trapped inside the Dreamscape. There have been some claims from people that they were trapped for years. The Dreamscape itself is said to connect everyone dreams. It is also thought that this place holds all the memories of the past. There is no physical proof that the Dreamscape exists, but it has been a topic of debate and legend for centuries.
THE DEMONIC REALM
Much like the Dreamscape, there is also the Demonic Realm. Until recently this too was believed to just be a tall tale, but a crack to the Demonic Realm opened in the distant land of Allant. The Realm is ruled by The Seven Demonic Princes, each holding their own "kingdom" in the realm. Not much is known about the realm other than this. Demons now roam in Trastia, free to do as they please, trying to steal the souls of helpless men and women. Very little is known about the demons themselves. They are very powerful creatures and can take many forms. It is best to avoid them at all costs. The Seven Princes are Grel, Tsul, Glot, Edrip, Slote, Kel'ra, and En.
SLAVERY
Slavery is a common practice in the large cities of Baden. Though there are some Human or Dwarvish slaves, most are Orcs of Half-Orcs. It has been this way since the end of The First Orcish Uprising hundreds of years ago, when Tamar Pont killed the Orc demi-god Na'Grul. Recently feelings about slavery have changed. People have begun to believe that the The Third Orcish Uprising would end with the end of Orcish slavery. This has caused a rift among a number of counts due to varying opinions.
FREE CITIES
Though the Empire of Baden controls most of the continent, there are two cities that remain free and independent. Attempts have been made to incorporate these cities into the Empire, but all have failed. These cities are Elysian City and Dungannon.
Dungannon - Deep in the Dhamdirth Mountains sits the free Dwarf city of Dungannon. The city was founded by a group of dwarves that were exiled from Creston when it was still ruled by Dwarvish kings. A sprawling underground metropolis, it operates under an elective monarchy, the current leader being Kromrum Bronzebrow. Though mainly populated by dwarves, other races reside there, mostly merchants attracted by the city's loose trade and tax laws.
Elysian City - In the northern parts of Riverhold, just east of the Forrest of Sorrows is Elysian City. For centuries it has stood independent from any. The city has existed since the days of the Old Empire, housing the devout followers of the Goddess of Life and Death, Eysia. Their leader, the Arch-paladin, is said to be the only person who can directly communicate with the goddess. The current Arch-paladin is Delwyn Reid.
