As of now muskets do the same same damage in both ranged and melee combat. There has been mention of changing this so they deal less in melee range. What are thoughts on this?

Well, since it was my idea - I think you know I support it. I think muskets, bows, and catapults should all do that. The listed damage should be their ranged damage, but melee damage should be at Militia strength.
That's my opinion on the matter.

While waiting on other people to add input, just clarifying that as of now Catapults do not have a melee attack as their range starts at 2

Do catapults counterattack when attacked at melee range? Because I've also been figuring melee defense in my presumptions for all my suggestions regarding this point.

Ah, well then catapults don't matter to this discussion at all I suppose. Still bows, crossbows, and muskets apply to my suggestion.
