I will put up more on them this weekend. But here is a list of the current buildings and what they do. Like everything, things are subject to change.
Armory - decrease the Gold cost for crafting arms by 15%
Castle - Increase Safety stat cap by 25, adds a 20% bonus to taxes and harvests.
Barracks - Increase the amount of troops drafted by 20 percent.
Warehouse - Increase the stat cap for commerce and agriculture.
Market - Increase the amount gained when using the Develop Commerce Kingdom Turn action by 20%.
Granary - Increase the amount gained when using the Develop Agriculture Kingdom Turn action by 20%.
Forge - Used to build Spears, Axes, and Bows.
Stables - Used to create Cavalry.
Guild - Increase the amount of infrastructure gained when using the Develop Infrastructure KT action.
Temple - Increase the chance of recruiting/finding NPCs in the city.
Fortified Walls - Increase Safety stat cap by 25.
Workshop - Used to create Catapults and Rams.

Before we get too far into actual legitimate discussion - I would like to pause for semantics. I think should be a Temple, rather than a University. Same bonus, just a different name. And I really want to change Fortified Walls to Kuruwa or Shijo, but then I would want to change everything to it's Japanese version. And I can't imagine reading through a turn going, "Wait...he's got a Za, a Jokamachi, and a Tatara....what the hell are those again?" That's all for now.

That is a fairly easy change to make, University to Temple. I think we will keep them the western versions though, at the very least for my own sanity lol.

Also, personally I rather prefer the way we've got things set up now that Market and Granary increase the Max Cap for Ag and Com. Compared to your proposal up there to have Warehouse (which I would rename Storehouse, myself, if it was kept) and then Market and Granary increase development gains.

Personally I agree with Samurai, having them increase the cap makes a little more sense, seeing as how the presence of a market doesn't necessarily make merchants sell more, but it does increase the number of people that have access to storefront. Granary especially, because that just means storage, it doesn't imply that the fields will be any more productive than usual.

on the topic of buildings like Granary and such. maybe to make each settlement of city unique. you should only allow a certain number of buildings in each one. for instances. small is 3 buildings med is 4 large is 5? something like that. as well to make Warehouse worth something. why not only allow a max number of food to be able to be stored. but with a building like Warehouse, it does not lift the cap on agriculture, but instead allows you to store x more food. making planing invasions and such more strategic. on the note of castle building. i can give some fluff to the names and even ideas about expanding the mechanics of it and the layout. all japan's castles sat on a mound or hills. height was there best friends. the structure on top. the castle was a Castle Tower (Tenshukaku). fallowed by Walls and Moats. some times several rings of them. but we don't have to get to crazy with that. there were Guard Towers (Yagura) as well as fortified Gates. some times 3 to 4. before they would build a Castle Tower (Tenshukaku), they the village or providence would be ruled from a Palace (Goten). so with this info we can start all locations say for the capital with a goten, then they get to pic and chose what to build. if we go with the mechanic of limited space per providence or whatever. it will make the rulers planning much more important then just making ques of what to build next
